Rotary Dryer

Efficient wood chip drying solution

Tongli wood chip dryer is a special equipment designed and manufactured for drying wood chips, sawdust, wood powder, wood chips and other materials. It has the characteristics of large drying output and significant energy saving effect. The main working principle is: the wood chips enter the wood chip dryer and the combined material plate and the rotating cylinder work together. The material boils and fluidizes in the cylinder, and the hot air fully contacts the material to complete the drying. The dryer consists of three layers of concentric cylinders. The material and the hot air flow in parallel in the dryer cylinder. The process is: inner cylinder----middle cylinder----outer cylinder. Each layer is equipped with a special shape of guide plate. The material is fried to a certain height by the material plate in the cylinder and runs along the spiral guide channel under the action of the earth's attraction and the hot air gravity. The material is fully heat exchanged in the three layers of cylinders.

FAQ

1. What is a wood chip dryer and how does it work?

A wood chip dryer is a device specifically designed to remove moisture from biomass materials such as wood chips. Its working principle is usually based on the flow of hot air combined with the physical movement of a rotating drum.

The wood chips enter the dryer through a screw conveyor and then come into full contact with the hot air in the drum. The hot air is blown into the drum through a nozzle, forming a high-temperature flowing airflow, which causes the moisture in the wood chips to evaporate.

Depending on the design, the wood chip dryer can achieve an evaporation intensity of 40-80kg/m³·h, which is 50% higher than that of traditional dryers. This efficient heat exchange process allows the moisture content of the wood chips to be reduced from the initial 50%-60% to less than 8%, which is suitable for subsequent pelletizing or board making processes.

2. What are the main advantages of wood chip dryers?

High drying efficiency, able to dry large quantities of wet wood chips to the required moisture level in a short time, usually within a few hours.

The energy consumption of wood chip dryers is relatively low, usually at a calorific value of 300-400kcal/kg, which means more cost-effectiveness in the drying process.

The equipment is easy to maintain and has a long service life, usually up to more than 10 years, reducing the operating costs of enterprises.

The design of wood chip dryers can flexibly adapt to various wood chip materials, including sawdust, wood chips and small wood chips, suitable for different industrial needs, such as biomass energy, feed and wood processing.

3. What are the applicable scopes of wood chip dryers?

Wood chip dryers are widely used in many industries, especially in biomass energy, feed processing and wood processing.

In the field of biomass energy, dried wood chips can be used to produce pellet fuel and biomass boiler fuel to improve combustion efficiency and calorific value. In feed processing, dried wood chips can be used as an additive to animal feed to improve nutritional content.

In addition, in the wood processing industry, drying wood chips is a key step in the manufacture of particleboard and medium-density fiberboard (MDF) to ensure the quality and strength of the final product. With the implementation of environmental protection policies, the demand for wood chip dryers continues to grow, becoming an important tool for achieving resource reuse and waste reduction.

4. How to choose the right wood chip dryer?

1) Choose the right equipment model according to the type of wood chips (such as sawdust, wood chips) being processed, because different materials have different drying requirements.

2) Consider the processing capacity of the dryer, which is usually measured in tons of wood chips dried per hour, and the common processing capacity range is 1-20 tons/hour.

3) Fuel is also an important consideration, and common ones include electricity, natural gas, and biomass. Finally, space constraints are also an important factor in selection, ensuring that there is sufficient space for installation and operation of the equipment.

5. What is the energy consumption of a sawdust dryer?

The energy consumption of a sawdust dryer depends mainly on the design and operating conditions of the equipment. Generally speaking, the thermal efficiency of a sawdust dryer can reach 70%-90%.

In actual operation, the energy consumption is usually 300-400kcal/kg of calorific value, and the specific figure may vary depending on the initial moisture content of the sawdust and the drying requirements.

For example, if wet sawdust with 50% moisture needs to be dried to 8%, the energy consumption per ton of sawdust may be between 250-400kg of standard coal.

Through reasonable design and operation, the sawdust dryer can not only improve thermal efficiency, but also reduce operating costs and save money for the enterprise.

6. What should be paid attention to in the maintenance of the wood chip dryer?

1) The maintenance of the wood chip dryer is essential to extend the service life of the equipment. First, regularly check the heat source and electrical system to ensure their normal operation.

2) Regularly clean the hot air duct and drying cylinder to prevent blockage caused by dust and wood chip accumulation, which affects the drying effect.

3) Check the wear of each transmission component and replace the severely worn parts in time to ensure the smooth operation of the equipment.

4) Regular lubrication and maintenance, especially for the roller and support wheel parts, to maintain good lubrication status, which will help reduce friction loss and improve the overall efficiency of the equipment.
